Security is of key importance to Hungary and the Hungarian people, and the country’s membership in NATO guarantees its security as well as that of the wider region, stated President of Hungary Katalin Novák, Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 8 November.

Having held discussions with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, while speaking at a press briefing Katalin Novák emphasized that peace and stability are of fundamental importance to Hungary.

Hungary is contributing to the success of NATO missions, it is reinforcing its defences and is developing its military capacity. It fulfils its commitment of spending two percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on defence, and the Hungarian troops’ presence contributes to the peace and stability of the Western Balkans region.
