Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó handed over a Teqball table to NATO on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in Brussels on Thursday.
After the handover, the Minister recalled that today is the birthday of the most successful and strongest defence alliance in the history of the world, and it would not have been appropriate to arrive empty-handed. In his speech, he stressed that this was a genuine Hungarian innovation, based on the crazy but unique idea of bending a ping-pong table to create a new sport.
He said that anyone who has ever seen a Teqball match would probably agree that it is an extremely entertaining game that requires special skills, and that these skills are developed even further by the game. It is therefore no coincidence, says Szijjártó, that top football teams around the world are increasingly using Teqball tables to develop skills.
He stressed that the world is not going through the best of times, and this is particularly true for those working in security organisations. “The current war is poisoning our daily lives, so we are starving for good news, joy and fun, and Teqball is clearly providing all of that”, he said. He concluded by wishing that NATO staff enjoy the game, which could perhaps also be a way to relieve stress.
