Hungary is on the side of peace, the return of peace into Europe as soon as possible is in the country’s interest, therefore our country calls for an immediate ceasefire and peace negotiations, the Minister of Defence announced in Brussels, after the two-day conference of the defence ministers of the NATO member states, on Friday, 14th October.
Between 1 August and 30 November with almost 80 soldiers and four JAS-39 Gripen fighters, the Hungarian Defence Forces take over the lead and contribute to the NATO Air Policing mission in the Baltic States, together with Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy.
NATO Defence Ministers concluded two days of preparations for the upcoming Madrid Summit on Thursday (16 June 2022). Ministers discussed the Alliance's next Strategic Concept, Russia's military buildup near Ukraine, lessons learned from the Alliance's engagement in Afghanistan. On the second day of the meeting Ministers exchanged viewed with Mr. Zalkaliani, Foreign Minister of Georgia and Dmytro Kuleba, Foreign Minister of Ukraine on the security of the region. At their closing meeting Ministers met with Josep Borrell EU HR/VP and NATO's closest partners, Finland and Sweden.
